Your Child’s Dental Care
With regular check-ups and cleanings, Dr. Joan Werleman can ensure healthy and happy smiles for your child’s dental care. It is recommended that all patients schedule a routine six-month check-up exam. Our dentist will screen your child’s mouth for tooth decay and gum disease.
It is recommended that you schedule your child’s first dental appointment around their first birthday or within 6 months of their first tooth erupting. Early visits will help Dr. Werleman detect any potential risks. We can also start familiarizing your child with important dental care.
Regular professional dental cleanings are essential for a healthy mouth. During your child’s dental cleaning, we will gently remove any buildup of plaque or tartar. Dr. Werleman may also recommend dental sealants for your child as part of their dental care. Sealants protect against tooth decay and cavities on your child’s molars. Molars are the most susceptible to cavities and least benefited from topical fluoride. Sealants are applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth and are highly effective in preventing tooth decay. Fluoride may be applied to the teeth as well. Topical fluoride is used to strengthen enamel and make teeth more resistant to tooth decay.
Without proper dental care, children are susceptible to tooth decay. Healthy smiles should not stop at our dental office. Our team will educate you and your child on how to make good food choices and how to properly brush and floss at home. We want to set healthy habits for you and your child’s dental care.
If your child plays sports, Dr. Werleman can assist you in finding the right fit for a mouth guard. Mouth guards are important because it will protect your child’s teeth from trauma and injuries in contact sports. We want them to enjoy their smile as much as they enjoy playing sports.
At Elevate Dental Wellness & Health, we have the experience and qualifications to care for your child’s dental care, including teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood. For more information, contact our office in Hanover.
